fashion template and fashion portfolio

The world’s leading event for fashion graduates, “Graduate Fashion Week,” published tips on its website for graduating fashion designers. These fashion portfolio tips were offered by the leading British fashion consultancy firm, Smith & Pye.

Among advice by Smith & Pye was a tip for fashion professionals to use fashion templates for fashion drawing. Knowing that there is some pretentiousness and misconception about usage of templates for fashion drawing one can think that such advice could be related only to low-end or mass industry. However, let us remember that among companies to whom Smith & Pye’s introduces its clients are Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Burberry, Topshop, ASOS and Paul Smith.

Interesting that this advice is coming from industry professionals, meaning that it is rooted in industry reality and professional practices not in imaginary perceptions and arbitrary assumptions.
Thus, according to Smith & Pye, “figures should be well drawn and neatly presented” and as long as they are well drawn and neatly presented it really does not matter how you drew them. According to Smith & Pye “it is better to use a template figure and repeat it than to include really bad illustrations.” Make an effort and advance your drawing with professionally designed fashion templates.
